One shared dialogue. Solo Piano Dialogues brings together two of the most compelling voices in contemporary Nordic jazz piano. Estonian pianist and composer Kirke Karja and Finnish pianist Tuomo Uusitalo first perform solo sets that reveal their unique artistic identities before meeting in an improvised musical dialogue that can only happen in the moment. Kirke Karja is internationally recognised for her distinctive harmonic language, fearless improvisation and genre-defying musical imagination. Equally at home in contemporary composition, jazz and experimental music, she has collaborated extensively across Europe and has performed both her own music and major concert works, including her Piano Concerto with the Hamilton Philharmonic Orchestra. Tuomo Uusitalo is an internationally acclaimed pianist, composer and arranger whose career has taken him from Finland to New York's vibrant jazz scene and back to Helsinki. Having collaborated with leading international jazz artists including Jimmy Cobb, Billy Hart and Chris Cheek, Uusitalo is celebrated for his lyrical touch, sophisticated swing and deeply expressive improvisation. Together they create an evening where two individual artistic voices meet in spontaneous conversation. The elevator to other floors of the building is located down a long hallway to the right of the entrance. There is a tactile marking on the floor to guide visually impaired individuals toward the elevator. The elevator doors are 90 cm wide.
